Clean Transition: Tips for a Smooth Switch

Starting your clean journey can feel overwhelming. So many products and so much information out there. But guess what? You're not alone in this! Many folks I chat with haven't made the switch because they're either short on time to research or they're not quite sure why they should switch. And hey, if you've got some non clean favorites (cough Botox cough), that's totally cool! The key is to embrace what feels right for you and gradually tweak your routine towards cleaner choices. No pressure, no judgment.

Now, let's talk about the nitty gritty. Change is not always easy, and trying new products can feel like a gamble, not to mention the dent it puts in your wallet. But fear not! I've got some tips to make the transition smoother.

Take it Step by Step: Gradually Replace Products

First off, pace yourself. Don't go on a shopping spree and replace everything at once. That will burn a hole in your pocket and be even more overwhelming. Instead, swap out products as you finish them. This way, you can also test each new product to make sure your skin (or home) doesn't throw a tantrum. Trust me, it's no fun trying to figure out why your skin is acting up after changing five products overnight.

Trial and Error: Find your Favorites

And let's talk about trial and error. Not every product is going to be your skin's soulmate, and that's okay! Just like in relationships, you might have to kiss a few frogs before finding the one. So, don't get discouraged if something doesn't work out. Keep experimenting until you find your perfect match.

Budget Hack: Samples and Travel Sizes

Now, onto my favorite hack: samples and travel sizes!! Whether you're browsing online or strolling through a store, keep an eye out for travel sized versions or sample packs. They're a budget friendly way to explore new brands and products without committing to a full size splurge. These have helped me find some of my favorite products, as well as be grateful for not purchasing the full size of others. I’ll later be sharing my favorite retailers and giveaways, so stay tuned!

What Matters to You: Define your Version of Clean

"Clean" means different things to different people, so it's essential to know your priorities. Are you all about vegan products? Or maybe sustainability is your jam? Whatever it is, stick to your guns and choose products that align with your values. Every retailer has a different definition of what “clean” is, so make sure you add any additional filters that are important to you when shopping clean. For example, I steer clear of synthetic fragrances, which many brands don’t include as a requirement to be labeled as clean. Check out my Ingredient Guide to learn more about what to steer clear from.

Remember, this journey is all about progress, not perfection. So take it one step at a time, and don't be too hard on yourself. You've got this!

Thanks for joining me on this clean adventure! Stay beautiful, stay green.

XoXo,
